Apparently there are more and more offenses in the NFL – and it only took them five weeks to warm up!

But as injuries and rest weeks continue to wreak havoc, fantasy football managers are constantly looking for players to add to their rosters to mitigate the damage. There were several who came out of the shadows in Week 5, had strong performances and were considered for starting spots in the coming weeks.

Which ones have staying power and which ones might just be one-week wonders? We have a few thoughts on the topic in this week's edition of our fantasy transfer waiver recommendations.

Fantasy football players will be added for Week 6

Due to the wide variation in league types and individual team requirements, the players listed here are in the lowest to highest availability rates in Fantrax leagues, which may or may not be consistent with rates on other platforms. (Recommended bid values are based on a budget of $100 for the season.)

RB Tyrone Tracy, New York Giants (32% availability)

With Devin Singletary sidelined with a groin injury, Tracy made his first NFL start and delivered. The rookie fifth-rounder had rushed for a total of 29 yards entering the game in Seattle, but managed 129 yards on 18 carries (7.2 per carry). Singletary should be ready to return this week, but Tracy's performance has certainly earned him a larger role in the future. FAAB offer: $14.

RB Tank Bigsby, Jacksonville Jaguars (36% availability)

Bigsby has gone from being one of the least effective running backs last season to one of the most effective this season, leading the NFL in average yards after contact.

Starter Travis Etienne suffered a shoulder injury early in the game, giving Bigsby a chance to shine. Judging by his production – and his 8.0 per carry average this season – it's not hard to imagine him taking a majority of the snaps on first and second down in the future. FAAB offer: $27.

WR Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts (55%)

All Colts receivers have received upgrades, with Joe Flacco taking over quarterback duties. Pierce is a credible deep threat who caught a 65-yard TD bomb among his three catches for 134 yards in Week 4. Josh Downs (17% available) led the team with nine catches, but Pierce is still a decent backup for the bye week. as long as Flacco is in the middle. FAAB offer: $6.

The Cowboys throw the ball more than any other NFL team, and with wideout Brandin Cooks sidelined with a knee injury, Tolbert stepped into the No. 2 receiver role with a bang. He caught the game-winning touchdown pass against the Steelers, one of his own seven receptions for 87 yards. The Cowboys placed Cooks on injured reserve, which gave Tolbert enough room to continue to contribute. FAAB bid: $15.

Another injury, another chance. Rookie Malik Nabers was the best fantasy wideout this season before missing Sunday's game with a concussion. As a result, Seattle QB Daniel Jones leaned heavily on veteran Slayton, posting eight catches, 122 yards and a touchdown. Fellow wideout Wan'Dale Robinson also caught a TD pass, but is used more as a possession receiver. FAAB offer: $6.

QB Joe Flacco, Indianapolis Colts (69%)

The availability of quarterbacks on the waiver wire can vary greatly from league to league depending on the scoring format. Other potential additions — from Kirk Cousins to Daniel Jones to Bo Nix — could have better chances in the long run. But Flacco's brilliance in relief (for the second straight year) makes him an excellent short-term player, even in Week 6 against Tennessee's top-ranked pass defense. FAAB bid: $4.

The Chiefs may be without top receiver Rashee Rice for the rest of the season, so QB Patrick Mahomes will need help from someone other than Travis Kelce in the passing game. They got the win from Smith-Schuster on Monday night when he caught seven of his eight targets for 130 yards. (However, the one target he didn't catch bounced off his hands and resulted in an interception in the red zone.) The veteran has jumped around himself several times throughout his career, but Mahomes has a way of controlling the performance of his receivers to maximize. FAAB offer: $10.

TE Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars (77%)

It's hard to say when Evan Engram will return from his nagging hamstring injury, but Strange's successful replacement could make him difficult to keep out of the lineup. On Sunday, he reached the end zone for the second time in three weeks and scored his highest fantasy point of the season. Unless Green Bay's Tucker Kraft (26% available) is still on the waiver list in your league, Strange is likely your best free agent option at tight end. FAAB offer: $6.

A hamstring injury to star wideout Nico Collins significantly impacted the Texans' offense in the final three quarters against Buffalo. However, Ogunbowale saw significantly more rushing and receiving action without Collins. He carried the ball 15 times and scored seven times – both season highs – en route to totaling 87 yards and 14.7 PPR points. He's neared the 15-point mark in each of the last two games and could see his effort upped even further if Collins misses additional time, as expected. FAAB offer: $6.

The Raiders' struggling offense is looking for a spark. It could involve a quarterback change, or it could come out of necessity with running back Zamir White dealing with a groin injury. Abdullah was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal loss to Denver, rushing five times for 42 yards and a touchdown. He also caught all three of his targets in the passing game. If you need backfield support in deep leagues, he's not a bad emergency addition. FAAB offer: $2
