SUGAR LAND, TX – Sol Living Trust of Sugar Land has won an $800 million Mega Millions jackpot in the September 10, 2024 drawing, surpassing The Blue's $360 million prize Yucca Trust won in October 2023.

The Blue Yucca Trust ticket was purchased in San Angelo.

According to information released today by the Texas Lottery, the win is the largest prize ever awarded to a Texas Lottery player.

The Trust chose the cash option of $409,297,624 before taxes, representing the largest payout in Texas Lottery history. The winning ticket was purchased at a Murphy USA location in Sugar Land and earned the retailer a $1 million bonus. The winning numbers were 1-2-16-24-66, with the Mega Ball 6.

This latest win surpasses the $360 million jackpot claimed by The Blue Yucca Trust in October 2023, with the winning ticket purchased at Stripes #5031 in San Angelo. The 2024 Sugar Land jackpot is also the seventh largest in Mega Millions history.

“We love seeing Texas Lottery players win big, and it is a great honor to congratulate the winner of our state's largest jackpot ever,” said Texas Lottery Executive Director Ryan Mindell. “This jackpot win shows that every Texas Lottery ticket can lead to an exciting prize, and if you play, the next ticket could be yours.”

Texas players won 175,127 lower-tier prizes in the same drawing, with amounts ranging from $2 to $40,000. Mega Millions drawings take place every Tuesday and Friday.

In Mega Millions, five numbers are selected from a field of 70 numbers and one Mega Ball number is selected from the second field of 25 numbers. To win the Mega Millions jackpot, players must match all six numbers drawn, including the Mega Ball. Players who match fewer numbers may not win the jackpot, but will still emerge as winners.

Mega Millions currently offers a starting jackpot of $20 million and a second prize (Match 5+0) of $1 million. By choosing Megaplier for $1 more per spin, players can multiply their non-jackpot winnings by two, three, four or five times to win up to $5 million.
