Ahead of the busy holiday season, Amazon has announced plans to hire 250,000 full-time, part-time and seasonal positions for its “customer fulfillment and transportation operations in the United States.”

The e-commerce giant made a similar move last year when it announced plans to hire 250,000 employees in the run-up to the holidays while increasing pay for transportation and customer fulfillment positions.

“The holiday season is always exciting for Amazon and our customers, and it's a time when we create many new jobs for people who want to make extra money for a few months or start a career at Amazon,” the company said in a press release dated Thursday.

“The details vary depending on the role, but all of our jobs offer good pay, flexible working hours and access to a range of benefits,” it continued. Those who sign up for full-time positions have access to benefits such as healthcare from day one and educational programs.

According to the press release, Amazon is investing $2.2 billion in additional wages for fulfillment and transportation workers, and seasonal employees can expect to earn at least $18 an hour and have access to comprehensive benefits such as health insurance. The company said that average total compensation is determined by including select benefits, such as: B. Health care from the first day of work will rise to over $29 per hour.

Additional benefits, depending on role and employment type, include vision and dental insurance, 401(k) with company match, up to 20 weeks of paid pregnancy/parental leave for birth parents, and free mental health and financial support services.

The company touts seasonal positions as a way to get your foot in the door

While many are looking for seasonal or part-time positions to make extra income during the holidays, Amazon says these positions are ideal for those looking to build a career and “are a great way to find out if Amazon is a good fit for you long-term.” “

“Seasonal employees who remain with the company can see an average salary increase of 15% in their first three years with us,” the company said.

Amazon also said in the press release that it was excited to welcome back “many familiar faces,” adding that a third of those who previously worked during the holiday season are returning.
