The end of the NHL preseason is finally here.

For their final preseason game, the Utah Hockey Club hosts the Colorado Avalanche.

Here's what you need to know about Saturday's game, which begins at 5:00 p.m. MDT.

Hispanic Heritage Night

Saturday's game is Hispanic Heritage Night and the Utah Hockey Club promoted it with a $30 special that included tickets and a children's hockey starter kit.

The offer sold out quickly.

Preview UHC vs. Avalanche

The Utah Hockey Club and the Avalanche just played in Denver on Sunday – a 6-3 win for Utah HC.

Unlike the previous game, both teams will likely have almost all of their NHL rosters on ice on Saturday in preparation for the regular season.

Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar are at the top of the Avalanche roster, although they are far from the only star players on the team. MacKinnon won both the Hart Trophy and the Ted Lindsay Award last season, crowning him the league's MVP and Most Outstanding Player as voted by players.

Makar is still two years removed from winning the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman, but he has been a finalist in that category in every season of his career except his rookie year.

The Utah Hockey Club, on the other hand, is downsizing its roster and has announced another round of cuts since the last game. Maveric Lamoureux, Maksymilian Szuber, Aku Räty, Milos Kelemen, Ben McCartney, Andrew Agozzino and Patrik Koch were all assigned to the AHL's Tucson Roadrunners.

The biggest question for Utah HC now is whether Kailer Yamamoto and Josh Doan will make the team. Both players have had excellent training camps, but there may not be room for them on the roster. However, injuries can free up one or two places.

Alex Kerfoot, who the team says has a day-to-day injury, skated with the team Friday for the first time since Sept. 28 but left the ice midway through practice. Likewise, Nick Schmaltz only played one preseason game and missed many training sessions. His injury was also reported on a daily basis.

Nick Bjugstad is not expected to be ready for the start of the season. He will be used on a week-to-week basis, although he has trained with the team a few times this week.

If any of these injuries are more serious than the team is admitting, there may be room for Doan and Yamamoto. Yamamoto currently has a professional testing contract, but according to Craig Morgan of PHNX Sports, he and the team have begun contract negotiations.

Where to see

The game will be streamed on Utah HC+. It will not be available on cable television.

Those who have tickets to the game should keep in mind that the game will take place at the Maverik Center in West Valley City, Utah, and not the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.
