Injury Summary: The Steelers suffer two injuries in the Cowboys' loss

In a game that didn't end until 1 a.m. EST, the Pittsburgh Steelers are licking their wounds after allowing a late touchdown in their 20-17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. They also have to contend with literal wounds, suffering multiple injuries in defeat. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed reporters following the game and reported on the current injuries.

“Had some injuries in the game,” he said, via the Steelers.com team site. “Nick Herbig suffered a thigh injury. DeMarvin Leal sustained a neck injury that is being evaluated. I don't have much information about it. And there it is.”

Herbig suffered a critical loss in the third quarter. He had a strong performance with a half-sack and several pressures. But he injured his leg in a rush, which left him limping to the locker room and struggling to put weight on his injured leg.

Without him, Pittsburgh was short on fullbacks and lacked the pressure needed to finish the game. Dallas chipped in and took away most of TJ Watt while DeMarvin Leal was injured and left a short time later, leaving Jeremiah Moon as the only other healthy fullback. Moon played his first game of the season after spending the first month on injured reserve, no doubt emphasizing conditioning.

Leal remained on the field for a few moments before leaving the field. OLB Alex Highsmith missed his second game with a groin injury and is expected to miss the Steelers' Week 6 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Steelers came into the game with several injuries. In addition to Highsmith, RB Jaylen Warren (knee), RB/KR Cordarrelle Patterson (ankle), TE MyCole Pruitt (knee) and QB Russell Wilson (calf) were inactive due to injuries. As stated on the NBC broadcast, Wilson expects to be healthy again next week. We'll see who starts at quarterback.

Pittsburgh will play Las Vegas next Sunday at 4:05 p.m./ET. This will be another away game for the Steelers.
