From Here to the Great Unknown, a memoir she wrote before her death, examines the hardships Elvis Presley's only child experienced during her 54 years of life. The book, completed posthumously by her eldest child, actress Riley Keough, contains shocking details about the death of her son Benjamin Keough.

He died by suicide in 2020.

“My house has a separate casitas bedroom and I housed Ben there for two months,” Presley wrote.

“There is no law in the state of California that says you have to bury someone immediately. I found a very compassionate funeral home owner. I told her that having my father in the house after he died was incredibly helpful because I could go and spend time with him and talk to him. She said, “We’re bringing Ben Ben to you.”

Presley was only 9 years old when her father died.

Keough previously wrote that her brother was “on dry ice.”

Presley struggled with the question of where to bury her son – Hawaii or Graceland – which ultimately delayed the inevitable.

“But I got so used to him, looked after him and kept him there. I think it would scare the hell out of anyone else to have their son there like that. But not me,” she wrote.

Presley wrote that the grieving process is often rushed. “I was so happy that there was a way to still educate him and delay it a little longer so I was okay with putting him to rest.”

Meanwhile, Keough wrote that she and her mother decided to get her brother's name tattooed on them, similar to how he had her name tattooed on his body.

Shortly thereafter, he was buried at Graceland next to his famous grandfather.
