You now have TWO WEEKS left to register to vote in November!

October 8, 2024 – Do you know where your polling station is? Are you still considered an active voter? Voters who are unsure of these answers can check this information online through the statewide SURE Public Portal.

Voters can visit www.pavoterservices.pa.gov and click the Find Voter Registration Status link to search for their voter registration status (active or inactive) and polling place address.

The deadline to register to vote for the Nov. 5 general election is Oct. 21 and is just two weeks away.

“Pennsylvanians who are not eligible to vote are at risk of missing the opportunity to make their voices heard in this important election,” said Al Schmidt, PA Secretary of the Commonwealth. “Visit vote.pa.gov to register now.”

To be eligible to vote, a person must:

  • Be a US citizen at least 30 days before the election,
  • Be a resident of Pennsylvania at least 30 days before the election and
  • be at least 18 years old on the day of the election.

Schmidt encouraged Pennsylvanians to use the Online Voter Registration System (OVR), which provides a quick and convenient way to register to vote. In addition to registering via the OVR system, eligible voters can also register to vote by mail or apply in person at:

  • a district voter registration office,
  • district relief offices,
  • Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program Offices,
  • Armed Forces recruiting centers,
  • District clerks of orphan courts or marriage offices,
  • area agencies on aging,
  • District Offices of Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities,
  • Student Disability Services Offices of the State Higher Education System,
  • Offices for special education at secondary schools,
  • Supplemental paratransit providers required by the Americans with Disabilities Act and
  • Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Driver's License and Photo License Centers.

Regardless of which method eligible Pennsylvanians use to register, county election offices must receive their voter registration application by 5:00 p.m. on October 21 in order to be eligible to vote in the November 5 election.

“You can also request an absentee ballot or, if necessary, an absentee ballot and vote from the comfort of your own home,” Schmidt added. “Your voice is valuable no matter how you cast it, and I encourage you to exercise your constitutional right to be heard by voting in this election.”

Voters who wish to vote by absentee or absentee ballot must apply by October 29th at 5:00 p.m. The deadline for county election offices to receive absentee and absentee ballots is 8:00 p.m. on Election Day, November 5th. Completed mail-in ballots have been received. After this deadline, they no longer count, even if they are postmarked before the deadline.

Ahead of the November election, several changes were made to local precincts and polling locations. Some voters in Chambersburg County may be voting in new voting districts because the county recently redistricted its municipal boundaries to reflect census data on the county's current population. Voters who are affected and move to other counties will receive a new voter registration card in the mail and a notice informing them of their new polling place. Chambersburg County will also include information about this redistricting project in its October bill mailing.

Additionally, the Hamilton 2 polling location is now located at Christian Life Church at 1400 Warm Spring Road, Chambersburg, and voters in the Metal 2 district will now vote at Metal Township Fire and Ambulance at 10862 Path Valley Road, Fannettsburg. Voters in Greene District 4 will vote at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 44 E. Main St., Fayetteville, for the Nov. 5 election. The county expects voting to take place again at the Fayetteville Fire Hall in 2025.

Pennsylvania residents who prefer to vote in person on Election Day can find their polling place at vote.pa.gov. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and as long as a voter is in line by 8 p.m., they can vote.

Voters have the opportunity to select candidates for the following races:

  • President of the United States,
  • United States Senator
  • representatives in Congress,
  • Attorney General of Pennsylvania,
  • Comptroller of Pennsylvania,
  • Pennsylvania State Treasurer,
  • Senator in the General Assembly (odd-numbered districts) and
  • Representative in the general assembly.

Federal and state candidates are listed in the ministry's candidate database.
