“I don’t think that was any intentional. Manny has exceptional arm talent. I think he proved that in the triple play,” Shildt said via Dennis Lin from The Athletic. Shildt was referring to the triple play Machado launched on Sept. 24 to secure a 4-2 postseason win over the Dodgers.

LA manager Dave Roberts called Machado's throw in particular “disturbing.”

“I didn’t realize it at the time,” Roberts said, according to Jack Harris on Monday Los Angeles Times.

“I really didn’t do that. I didn't notice it. I saw the video. And it was disturbing. … If it was directed at me, I would be very — it’s pretty disrespectful.”

A video of the throw then emerged.

To be clear, the ball bounces off the railing into the field, where you see the ball boy come up the stairs and retrieve it.

Per Fabian Ardaya From The Athletic, the Dodgers also shared a video of the Machado throw with the MLB office.

It's clear the Dodgers weren't happy with Machado, especially starting pitcher Jack Flaherty.

“Everyone saw how me and him did it, but I was sitting there for my team,” Flaherty said, according to Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. “He threw at our dugout. The referees immediately went over. I don’t know what they were talking about, but our dugout was fired up because there was no reason for it.”

Machado had this to say: “I throw balls in the dugout all the time. In both shelters. They have batboys, you throw the ball back in there.”

The Machado throw was another storyline in a heated, emotional and competitive series that reached an ugly climax late in the game when objects were thrown at Jurickson Profar, Fernando Tatis Jr. and the Padres' bullpen.

“First, two baseballs were fired at left fielder Jurickson Profar,” Fox 4 KC’s Ryan Phillips wrote. “Several objects were then fired in the direction of Fernando Tatis Jr. in right field. As if that wasn’t bad enough, a video has surfaced of fans throwing objects at Padres pitchers in the bullpen.”

The items included beer cans and water bottles. Security guards lined the field and the game was delayed for 10 minutes. Order was later restored and the Padres earned a 10-2 victory.

Now the best-of-five series moves to San Diego for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday. A split would send the series back to LA for Game 5 on Friday.
