Sheryl Lee Ralph didn't get to see the kiss in the season finale

Season 3 of “Abbott Elementary” ended with a big moment for Janine and Gregory as the couple finally kissed again – this time with a promise of a future. But Sheryl Lee Ralph, who plays Barbara Howard on the ABC series, had to protect her eyes.

However, when she stopped by “The View” on Wednesday, she had to watch the clip but still turned her head away because she was afraid of it. According to the actress, no part of her wanted to see it happen when it happened and no part of her wanted the couple to get romantic this season.

But that's just because she feels like they're her children, and it's weird to watch.

“When he looked at the camera and pulled the curtain down and then I saw them lean in and touch their lips, I thought, 'Oh my God, I don't want to see it,'” Ralph remembers.

“Something about, you know, when you're a mother and you see your kids doing grown-up things. I thought, 'I'm not ready for this!'”

Although she couldn't say much about the upcoming season, she said that those who don't feel maternal or paternal instincts towards Janine and Gregory will be satisfied.

“Some of you will be very happy this coming season,” Ralph teased. “Others of you will be like me, it's like 'Kids, get therapy!'”

“Or find a room,” Whoopi chimed in, earning a strong agreement from Ralph.

“The View” airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
