2nd T20I Highlights: All-rounder Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh shine as India seal series with 86-run win over Bangladesh | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: Nitish Kumar Reddy announced himself on the international stage with a flamboyant 74 as a young Indian side delivered another confident performance to beat Bangladesh by 86 runs in the second T20I here on Wednesday. With the win, the hosts took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-game series.
The 21-year-old Reddy (74 off 34 balls) played the most attractive innings of his young career while he also took a couple of wickets (2/23) with his seam bowling.
Reddy combined with Rinku Singh (53 off 29), who also scored an incredible fifty, to help India score 221/9 after being asked to bat.

Barring an early wobble with the bat, the Indians seemed to have a firm grip on the game and dominated Bangladesh throughout the game.
Their bowlers were on target and the hosts took some stunning catches to restrict Bangladesh to 135/9.
How it happened
Reddy and Rinku put up a crucial 108-run stand for the fourth wicket, taking India out of a precarious situation (41/3).
Reddy looked magnificent as he fended off the Bangladesh attack with ease, scoring seven maximums and four boundaries in just 34 balls.
Playing only his second T20I, he made his maiden fifty in 27 balls by hitting the ball towards long-on.
On the other hand, Rinku, who hit five boundaries and three maximums, also showcased his batting prowess when he hit the top six of the match in the eighth over against leg-spinner Rishad Hossain.
Reddy also took a liking to Rishad and hit three maximums in the 10th over to take India past 100. The Bangladesh spinner looked clueless against him.
First he hit a long time over. Rishad again made a mistake in his length and faced similar treatment when Reddy hit him well over the length. The third six came behind mid-wicket.
He was eventually sent back by Mustafizur Rehman, who bowled a slower ball, but not without receiving a standing ovation.
Chasing a total of 220-plus, opener Parvez Hossain Emon came out with aggressive intent, pumping the ball to the boundary three times, but Arshdeep Singh had the last laugh as the left-arm seamer took the wicket in his next over of the Bangladeshis conquered.
Once the Indians spinners got going, Bangladesh started losing wickets at regular intervals. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto was next to become the first victim of Washington Sundar.
Opener Litton Das' dismal run continued as mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy hit his very first ball and picked up where he left off.
The Bangladesh batsman found it difficult and seemed content to shoot up at the required run rate in the singles. Veteran batsman Mahmudullah (41 off 39), playing his penultimate T20I, was the lone performer for Bangladesh.
Previously, the leader from India was outwitted by the tempo trio Tanzim Hasan (2/26), Mustafizur Rehman (2/36) and Taskin Ahmed (2/16). They varied their pace to achieve the desired results.
Bangladesh started the innings with some spin in the form of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Sanju Samson (10) punished the off-spinner with consecutive boundaries to gain 15 runs from the first over.
But Samson botched his start and beat Taskin in the next round. After just two runs in the second over, Abhishek Sharma (15) hit back-to-back boundaries and tried to stump Tanzim Hasan, but the 90mph delivery triggered an inside edge that resulted in his off-stump taking a walk.
Shanto brought Mustafizur into the attack in the sixth over and the veteran campaigner started with slower deliveries, with the third try paying dividends when Suryakumar Yadav hit a cutter straight into Shanto's hands as India lost their third wicket in the powerplay.
