MLB Playoffs: Mets announce lineup for NLDS Game 4

MLB Playoffs: Mets announce lineup for NLDS Game 4

The Mets have released their lineup for Game 4 of the NLDS against the Phillies. With another win, the Mets can secure their ticket to the NLCS for the first time since 2015. Also notable is that the Mets are looking to win the title on their home turf for the first time since winning the NL East crown in 2006.

The lineup doesn't look much different than the one they fielded yesterday afternoon, and that shouldn't be too surprising since they put up seven runs and nine hits in their Game 3 win. The only difference is that JD Martinez comes in for Jesse Winker, which makes sense since left-handed Ranger Suárez starts for Philadelphia.

Here is the complete lineup.

  1. Francisco Lindor – SS
  2. Mark Vientos – 3B
  3. Brandon Nimmo – LF
  4. Pete Alonso
  5. Jose Iglesias
  6. JD Martinez – DH
  7. Starling Marte – RF
  8. Tyrone Taylor – CF
  9. Francisco Alvarez – C

LHP – Jose Quintana

Mets players have had mixed results against Suárez in their respective careers. Marte has some of the best numbers against the lefty, hitting 6-for-16 lifetime, while Iglesias is 6-for-8 against him in his career, including 4-for-6 in two contests this year. Lindor is also 5-for-16 with a home run against today's starting pitcher. Meanwhile, Vientos is 3-for-15 with a home run against Suárez, while Martinez is 2-for-9 and Alonso is 2-for-17 with two doubles.
