This infamous sequel to Friday the 13th gets the 4K treatment

With Halloween just around the corner, it's the perfect time to watch some of your favorite horror films. When it comes to classic slasher franchises, these late night marathons are usually one of them Friday the 13th. The blood-soaked series with the main roles Jason Voorhees began in 1980 and spawned seven screaming sequels during that killer decade. The first eight films were produced by Paramount Pictures, but that would change in the '90s when New Line Cinemas got their hands on the rights. Her first film in the franchise was Jason Goes to Hell: The Last Friday (Part IX). While it's far from the most popular sequel in the series, this has now been confirmed Jason is going to hell comes to 4K thanks to Arrow Video.

According to Fangoria, the news first came to light with the 4K release of Arrow Michael Doughertys trick or treatingwhich will be released later this month. Inside the 4K case is an advertisement for the upcoming 4K edition of Jason is going to hell featuring the classic poster artwork of a demonic looking snake creature passing through Jason's iconic hockey mask. This is a bit surprising since Arrow hasn't officially announced it yet, but Part IX director Adam Marcus confirmed the news on X (firmly known as Twitter), which said it was overseeing the recovery process. He specifically teased: “I just oversaw the 4K restoration, color timing and cleanup with cinematographer William Dill. It's the uncut version and it's never looked better.” Although there is currently no release date for Jason Goes to Hell, this would be Arrow's second Friday the 13th 4K release, as they just released the 2009 remake in that format last month. This would also be the fourth Friday the 13th film on 4K, as Paramount previously released the first two films in this format Part III through Part VIII will probably come in the future.

What is “Jason Goes to Hell” about?
