Hurricane Milton devastates Florida: The Picture Show: NPR

Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key, about 8 miles (13 km) south of Sarasota, Florida, around 8:30 p.m.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the Category 3 hurricane had estimated maximum sustained winds of 120 miles per hour.

Landfall occurred much earlier than expected after shifting south.

Milton is expected to produce dangerous storm surges of up to 13 feet.
