Music mogul Sean Diddy Combs' legal team is connecting the dots between mounting new allegations and the Cassie Ventura video that started it all.

In new court documents, Combs' lawyers accuse the government of conspiring against the rapper, starting with resurfaced 2016 surveillance footage that shows him hitting his then-girlfriend. People reported.

His lawyers on Wednesday called on the Southern District of New York to “investigate alleged government misconduct, particularly with respect to unlawful leaks that resulted in adverse pretrial publicity.”

They allege that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was behind the leaks that “damaged Mr. Combs' right to a fair trial,” the filing says.

According to the memorandum, Combs' lawyers requested disclosure of emails, documents and records the government has about the leaks, as well as a gag order to prevent government personnel from releasing material related to the case to the media.

At the same time as the hearing, they have also asked to conceal evidence that the government allegedly leaked on the grounds that it violated the Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure “or any other law, rule or regulation.”

The rapper's legal team also insisted on investigating the seriousness of the 2016 hotel surveillance video, saying that while the abuse was clear “without a hearing,” it “remains unknown how far or where the abuse extended.”

Combs is defending himself despite more than 120 people coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment by the 54-year-old music mogul, while a recent raid on his two mansions reportedly recovered around a thousand bizarre items believed to be evidence of sex trafficking investigations against him.

He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
