Tech CEO dies after falling 200 feet while climbing in Zion National Park in Utah

The multimillionaire software company CEO has tragically died after falling 60 meters while climbing in Zion National Park in Utah.

Justin Bingham, 40, was rappelling with three other people near the trailhead of the popular Heaps Canyon Trail on Oct. 5 when he fell, the National Parks Service said.

Over 50 rescuers from the Zion National Park Technical Search and Rescue Team and the Washington County Sheriff's Office worked to save the beloved father of four.

Bingham was pulled from the steep ravine by a Utah Department of Public Safety helicopter and transported to a helipad near Watchman Campground.

The father, who shared his family life online with 60,000 followers, was pronounced dead before he could be flown to hospital in a rescue helicopter.

The father of four and his wife Lindsay documented their lives on their YouTube channel “Life in Holland” (the family is pictured).

The entrepreneur, who describes himself as an “outdoor and sports enthusiast,” shared pictures of his adventurous life skiing and hiking, as well as enthusiastic family photos with his four young children and wife Lindsay.

His technology company Opiniion said in a statement following his tragic death: “Justin was involved in a tragic accident while pursuing one of his greatest passions – exploring nature.”

“Justin was a visionary who believed in the power of real connections, both with our customers and within our team.

“His commitment to building meaningful relationships left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.” Justin’s adventurous spirit and dedication to living life to the fullest will be deeply missed.”

The three other canyoning participants with Bingham were rescued the next morning. Two were rescued by helicopter and the third was assisted in rappelling out of the gorge.

Justin and Lindsay documented their life as a family of six and the story of their son Landon, who has cerebral palsy, on their YouTube channel, Life in Holland.

Bingham graduated from Brigham Young University in 2009 with degrees in business administration and Italian (pictured with his widow, Lindsay).

The title is inspired by a story by author Emily Perl Kingsley called “Welcome to Holland,” which is about raising a child with a disability.

Her YouTube channel has 143,000 subscribers and 53,866,596 total views of her over 1,000 videos.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Bingham graduated from Brigham Young University in 2009 with degrees in business administration and Italian.

He attended a track and field scholarship and competed in the 110-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles.

According to Worth Trackers, his estimated net worth is $6 million as of January.

Records show the family recently moved into a $2.6 million home in Alpine.

Tributes to the beloved father and businessman are pouring in on social media.

“I feel like this is a bad dream.” I can't imagine what your family is going through right now. I've been looking at all the Binghams for years. “I know I don't know you, but I love your family as much as I do,” one person said.

“Justin we love you and your sweet family so much… I can only sob… I know you did what you loved to do and I'm so grateful you weren't alone,” said another.

“Justin Bingham was one of my favorite people to work with, hang out with and laugh with.” We only had five short months to work on his new home together, but they were the best said a third person

“He always greeted me with a big smile and a fist bump.” He was honest, full of integrity and I learned a lot from his positive attitude towards so many things in life.

“I am forever grateful for his influence on me in such a short period of time and we have definitely lost one of the best here in the world.”
