Trevor Noah wants to stop by the Daily Show

Now that Jon Stewart is back working Mondays The Daily ShowDon't be too surprised if you see another of the show's old hosts back at the desk.

During a visit on Wednesday morning Today to promote his new book Into the uncut grassformer TDS The host reiterated that he would like to return to his old stomping grounds.

“Would you ever go back there again?” The Daily Showjust for a guest thing?” host Savannah Guthrie asked the comedian. “Look at Jon. He does it on Mondays.”

“Oh, always. Always,” Noah replied. In fact, Noah and his predecessor and successor Jon Stewart have apparently spoken about it – although his response seemed to indicate that he envisions returning as a guest, rather than a guest host.

“Jon and I write about it all the time,” he said. “I'll just come over and bother him for a whole day and then be his guest.”

Noah has previously alluded to his close communication with Stewart. During a question-and-answer session at a stand-up show earlier this year, the comedian revealed that he knew about Stewart's impending return before the announcement.

He explained that he always wished he could do a version of it The Daily Show Noah was on a shorter schedule and reacted clearly when he learned that Stewart had returned to the desk once a week.

“I literally sent him a message,” Noah said, “and I said, 'You damn son.' You figured it out!'”

Noah spent eight years with TDSseven of them as hosts. He joined the show in 2014 as a correspondent and was promoted to host following Stewart's departure in 2015. Noah unexpectedly announced his own exit from the show in late 2022.
