James Carville admits he is 'scared to death' of Election Day

Democratic strategist James Carville said Wednesday he was concerned about Election Day and called on Vice President Kamala Harris to take more aggressive action in the next few weeks.

“The only thing I feel is that the elections are on November 5th. I’m scared to death,” he told MSNBC’s Ari Melber. “I’m very, very worried.”

Carville argued that Harris actually only had about 20 days to get her messages out, as Hurricane Milton was likely to dominate coverage over the next few days.

“You have to be sharp. You have to be aggressive. You need to stop answering questions and start asking questions. You do all this and sit down with '60 Minutes' and sit down with Colbert and sit down – no matter what.” “When I come on your show, you're going to ask me the questions. If I have a press conference, I can ask the questions,” he said.

“You want her to give more press conferences?” asked Melber.

Carville said he wanted Harris to have more events and control the narrative.

“Where she's out there saying, 'What is JD Vance talking about, that Trump saved ObamaCare? He tried at every turn to destroy it.' I would challenge President Obama to say so. He only has a 92% approval rating among Democrats. He is just the originator, the father of 23 million people who have insurance.

Obama will campaign for Harris in Pennsylvania on Thursday.

Carville also argued that Democrats have not adequately countered the Trump-Vance campaign's messaging.

“And I think she and the entire campaign need to be much more aggressive and less passive than they were,” he said.

Harris has not held a formal news conference in the 81 days since he became the Democratic nominee after President Biden dropped out of the race.

During his Politics War Room podcast last week, Carville said Harris should go after Vance and Trump over the ObamaCare comments. He called Vance's claim “a complete lie” and repeatedly questioned why Harris himself didn't speak about it in the media.

“Why doesn't Harris talk about it herself today?” Carville said during the podcast. “Get off your a–. Move, move, move!”
