The Detroit Tigers can get their second win in the 2024 MLB postseason series on Thursday night at Comerica Park.

The Tigers are just one win away from continuing their amazing postseason streak with a 2-1 lead over the Cleveland Guardians in Game 4 of the ALDS. Detroit has shut out Cleveland for consecutive shutout victories to take control of the series, including a 3-0 win in Game 3 on Wednesday in its first home playoff game in a decade.

The Tigers and Guardians are tied 1-1 heading into the fourth inning. Cleveland scored first with three singles in the first inning, ending its scoreless streak, and the Tigers tied it in the second inning on a sacrifice fly by Trey Sweeney.

The Guardians will have their star starter Tanner Bibee as the starter for Game 4. Bibee will make his second start in the series after securing the Game 1 victory with 4⅔ scoreless innings in Cleveland's shutout victory. The Tigers will use Reese Olson for his first career postseason start after he was used as a reliever and pitched five innings in Game 1.

First pitch at Comerica Park is scheduled for 6:08 p.m. The game will be broadcast on TNT and available to stream on Sling TV. According to BetMGM, the Tigers are a +100 moneyline underdog.

The top-ranked Tigers fell 1-2-3 in the second game against Bibee. He got Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling to turn for groundouts, and he struck out Kerry Carpenter with a bouncing curveball.

Olson appeared to be on his way to a quick 1-2-3 inning, but allowed two two-out singles to Josh Naylor and Lane Thomas to create a threat. Battling with Will Brennan to make it 3-2, Olson took Cleveland's right fielder wide and chased a low curveball for the strikeout in the bottom of the inning.

The Tigers loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of the second. Colt Keith started the inning with a walk, followed by Spencer Torkelson, who hit a single to right field after an 0-2 hole. Zach McKinstry loaded the bases with a walk and Trey Sweeney brought Keith in with a sacrifice fly to center field. However, the rally ended thereafter when Jake Rogers singled out to shortstop and Torkelson was doubled at second base after taking an overly aggressive second lead.

Reese Olson hit Andres Gimenez with a slider in the dirt, Bo Naylor with a fastball to the eyes before walking No. 9 batter Brayan Rocchio. In his second game against Steven Kwan, Olson got him to miss a curveball and pass Trey Sweeney at shortstop.

The Guardians ended their 20-inning scoreless streak on their first attempt at bat. Steven Kwan led things off with a line-drive single to left-center, followed by a Kyle Manzardo single to right field. Reese Olson then came through, getting Jose Ramirez to fly out and Josh Naylor to strike out, but Lane Thomas hit a groundball single between first and second base for an RBI single.

Parker Meadows hit a leadoff double on a fly ball that found a patch of grass directly between right fielder Will Brennan and center fielder Lane Thomas to immediately put a runner in scoring position. But Kerry Carpenter hit a fastball for a 3-2 count, Matt Vierling popped up to second base and Riley Greene flew to left field to end the threat.

The Tigers are one win away from their first ALCS appearance since 2013 after eliminating the Guardians 3-0 for the second straight game to take a 2-1 series lead. The Tigers relied on another bullpen day and a handful of crucial hits with runners in scoring position to win the first home playoff game at Comerica Park in a decade in front of a packed crowd.

The Tigers' offense received contributions from across the lineup, including RBIs from Riley Greene, Matt Vierling and Spencer Torkelson, to provide the back end of the bullpen enough cushion to close the door comfortably. The Tigers will likely use the bullpen-heavy approach again, but will have traditional starter Reese Olson fully rested and ready after he threw five innings in Game 1.

The Guardians' offense will need to find answers to the Tigers' pitching approach after being shut out in the final 20 innings of the series. Cleveland did not record an extra base hit and went 0 for 8 in Game 3 with runners in scoring position, helped by the Tigers' strong defense behind whoever was on the mound.

If the Tigers can close out the series, they would advance to the ALCS for the first time in 11 years and face the winner of the New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals. The Yankees currently lead the series 2-1 with Game 4 beginning at 8:08 p.m
