While one Los Angeles Lakers rookie impressed on Thursday, another struggled.

Dalton Knecht, the Lakers' No. 17 overall pick from Tennessee, scored 13 points, eight points and four assists in Los Angeles' 107-102 preseason win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Knecht looked solid in his 34 minutes off the bench and should give Lakers fans confidence that he can be productive early.

While Knecht showed good numbers, Bronny James didn't have much to show for the win. The second-round pick went 0 of 4 from the field and 0 of 2 from deep and failed to get on the board in his six minutes.

James hasn't had quite as much time on the floor as Knecht, so perhaps the son of the legendary LeBron James will find his rhythm as the preseason progresses.

After the third preseason game in Los Angeles, fans cheered Knecht but recognized that James still has a lot of work to do.

Dalton Knecht's competitiveness on the glass and on defense was not perfect in this game, but it was exactly what the coaching staff expected from him. He is obviously an offensively competent player.

It's no surprise that Knecht is making an early impact in the NBA after the season he had for the Vols last year. The SEC Player of the Year averaged 21.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game while leading Tennessee to an SEC regular-season title and its first Elite Eight appearance since 2010.

James, like most second-round picks, was expected to need a little more time to develop. After the preseason, he will likely spend some time in the G League to continue working on his game before hopefully finding a spot on the Lakers' roster.
