Today on Pinstripe Alley – 10/11/24

Good morning The Yankees return to the American League Championship Series! Last night they defeated the Royals 3-1 to secure a four-game ALDS win. Hell yeah. The reward is a few days of rest as the Yanks wait for the winner of the Tigers/Guardians series, which ends tomorrow.

Today on the site, Sam will recap the events of the other ALDS Game 4 in Detroit, David will name his Player of the Game for ALDS Game 4, and Estevão will address how the Yankees followed a familiar ALDS trend in a special Game 4 reaction piece, and Nick Sarnelli will crown his election as ALDS MVP. Later, for Yankees Diary, John will go back in time to preview the 1999 ALCS, where the Yankees and Red Sox met in the postseason for the first time, and Smith will name his minor league player of the year. Also, keep an eye out for Madison to answer your mailbag questions.

As mentioned, the other ALDS Game 5 won't be until tomorrow, but we have NLDS Game 5 tonight! Like the crosstown rival Yankees, the Mets are waiting to see who they will play in the NLCS, which begins Sunday. Tonight it's Padres vs. Dodgers at old Chavez Ravine.

NLDS Game 5 Schedule:

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres
(Series drawn, 2:2)

(RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto vs. RHP Yu Darvish)
Time: 8:08 p.m. ET
TV: Fox
Venue: Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles, California

Questions/Suggestions:

1. The Yankees have not officially announced Carlos Rodón as the ALCS starter for Game 1. Would you still go with him or would you take Clarke Schmidt/Luis Gil? (Cole's normal rest would get him into Game 2.)

2. Who did you meet in Dodgers vs. Dads?
