CLEVELAND, Ohio – Three-time NBA champion shooting guard Danny Green has retired from the league after 15 seasons, he announced Thursday.

Green, 37, shared the news of his retirement on his podcast “Inside the Green Room.”

“I’m officially saying goodbye to the game of basketball, the NBA,” Green said. “It was a great run. I'm very proud to be able to leave the game. I'm happy with that. I wasn't at first, but I think it was one of those things. When I turned 37, the body started to react a little differently.”

Green played just two games for the Philadelphia 76ers last NBA season. He previously played eight games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who selected him in the second round of the 2009 NBA Draft, and three games with the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2022-23 season.

The 6-foot-2 Green established himself as one of the NBA's elite 3-point sharpshooters, shooting 40% from distance over the course of his career. He won NBA championships with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014, the Toronto Raptors in 2019 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. Green was also named All-Defensive Second during his time with the Spurs in the 2016–17 season Team appointed.

After being drafted by Cleveland in 2009, Green only played 20 games for the Cavs before being released by the team. He signed with San Antonio, where he played for the next eight seasons.

Green finished his NBA career averaging 8.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 25.1 minutes in 832 career games, including 709 starts.
