Caitlin Clark is making the switch from basketball to golf this winter, an unexpected career move. The Rookie of the Year is currently enjoying a breakout season with the Indiana Fever, breaking numerous records and leading her team to the WNBA playoffs for the first time in eight years.

The Iowa graduate set new assists records in a single season (337), made a league-high 122 three-pointers, and became the fastest woman in history to reach the 100 three-point mark broke through, recording two triple-doubles and scoring the most points from her point guard position in a single season.

And while the 22-year-old Clark could have continued to impress in the Unrivaled League during her offseason, she has instead opted to hit the greens and fairways of an LPGA Tour event next month. Hosted by Annika Sorenstam, the Annika Pro-Am event will take place November 13-17 at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida and will welcome an array of talent.

Speaking about her participation in the event, Clark said: “I love golf, so the opportunity to play in the Pro-Am for a tournament with a legend like Annika Sorenstam's name is so exciting.” She added: “I'm excited “Seeing all the LPGA players on the driving range, being part of the Women's Leadership Summit and of course playing in the Pro-Am with Annika.”

Meanwhile, tournament host Sorenstam said, “I have followed Caitlin's career through college and now on the WNBA stage, and what she is doing to bring attention to women's sports on and off the court is outstanding. “I look forward to meeting her.” Caitlin and having her join us in November at Pelican Golf Club for an exciting week for women’s sports.”

At the Annika, 120 players compete against each other and fight for a share of the impressive prize money of 3.25 million US dollars (2.4 million pounds) – one of the largest prize pools on the entire LGPA Tour. This came after Clark took to social media to wrap up a whirlwind season with the Fever, emphasizing how grateful she was for the experience.

The young player spent four years at the University of Iowa before her professional career, where she won consecutive National Player of the Year honors and set a new NCAA scoring record. In April 2024, she was selected as the first overall pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft and signed a rookie contract with the Fever later that month.

In her first season, she averaged 19.2 points per game and a league-high 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. For her efforts, she received 66 of 67 votes and was named the WNBA's Rookie of the Year – the other going to the Chicago Sky's Angel Reese.
