Tia Mowry After filing for divorce, she found a good use for her wedding ring Cory Hardrict.

During the Friday, October 11 episode of her show, Tia Mowry: My next actThe 46-year-old actress collapsed on screen while putting the jewelry back on.

“I haven't worn my wedding ring for two years now and it just doesn't feel right to sell it. But I want to turn my wedding ring into something for my children. Pass it on because they were my greatest gift,” Mowry said before pausing to cry. “I want to do it because I haven't worn it yet. It just sat there. It was very pretty. If something else is made from it, then it will be used.”

The decision was still “sad” for Mowry, who added: “This is a symbol of a marriage and it is no longer that. “I would prefer if the children had something.”

Later in the episode, Mowry visited a jewelry store that helped appraise her ring. She reflected that this move represented a new chapter in her life.

“It's hard not to think of Cory when I decide to repurpose my wedding ring,” she reflected. “But I'm learning that ultimately I have to make this decision for myself. I think because it goes to the kids, it will be okay.”

Mowry chose to make her 13-year-old son Cree a necklace, while her 6-year-old daughter Cairo got a bracelet.

“I just think it's so beautiful to take something that was given out of love and take it and give it to your children,” Mowry continued. “I feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste. I did the right thing.”

Mowry confirmed in October 2022 that she and Hardrict, 44, had decided to split up. They finalized their divorce in April 2023.

“I have always been honest with my fans and today is no different. “I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways,” she wrote via Instagram at the time. “These decisions are never easy and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we raise our wonderful children together. I am grateful for all the happy times we have had together and would like to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we begin this new chapter in our lives.”

The former couple tied the knot in 2008 after eight years together. They later expanded their family with son Cree in 2011 and daughter Cairo in 2018.

Since their split, Mowry has spoken openly about how she and Hardrict have prioritized co-parenting.

“I talk to (Cory) every day. We tell each other we love each other every day,” she told Us Weekly exclusively in November 2022. “He is family and will always be family and forever a part of our lives.”

Mowry has also used her platform to highlight the highs and lows of dealing with a divorce in the public eye.

“Recovering from a divorce feels like a stormy journey. I discovered through the process that divorce is not a point where we arrive, but the beginning of a new chapter in life with many nuances and no one-size-fits-all manual,” she said in an Instagram video in April. “One moment you’re relieved and feeling like you’ve accomplished something significant, and suddenly the emotions come over you again.”

In the social media upload, the actress reflected on the “not often discussed side of divorce” when it comes to children.

“They strive to be a role model and teach resilience and self-care. You try different things to calm and release emotional buildup,” she noted. “Exercise, write down your thoughts, meditate, and seek therapy to deal with the breakup and the dreams you had for the future.”

Mowry became emotional as she discussed her personal challenges, adding, “One day I believe I will be able to look back on this time with nothing but warmth and gratitude for the wonderful children who came into my life and for the stronger one.” Version of myself that emerged from that experience.
