Marilyn Manson's accuser accuses prosecutor of waiting to file rape allegation

A “Game of Thrones” actor who accused Marilyn Manson of rape condemned District Attorney George Gascón on Thursday for waiting more than two years to act on her case.

Esme Bianco came forward in 2021 and claimed that Manson – real name Brian Warner – raped and violently abused her, including whipping and cutting her, as well as forcing her to take drugs.

Bianco filed a lawsuit and also reported the allegations to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which transferred its investigation to the district attorney's office in September 2022. At a news conference Thursday, Bianco said she has been waiting since then for a decision on whether to file charges.

“Despite a thorough investigation and hundreds of pieces of evidence presented to prosecutors, I am still waiting for justice,” she said in a statement. “In the meantime, I have received death threats while my abuser continues to make public appearances.”

Manson will release his new album “One Assassination Under God” on November 22nd and is currently on tour. He and his lawyers have repeatedly denied the allegations made by Bianco and other women who made similar allegations three years ago.

Bianco appeared at the press conference with Nathan Hochman, whom she supports in defeating Gascón in the November 5 election. Hochman, who is well ahead in the polls, said the Manson case was one of thousands that have gone unchecked and said Gascón had been “catastrophically incompetent” in the matter.

“Hundreds of women who were victims of unspeakable crimes never had a day in court because of Mr. Gascón,” Hochman said.

Hochman has not said whether he would press charges against Manson.

Manson's case is now the latest celebrity case to become a political controversy in the prosecutor's race. On Tuesday, Hochman attacked Gascón's handling of the Menendez brothers' case, the subject of a Netflix series and two recent documentaries.

Gascón held a news conference last week to announce that he is considering a request to free the brothers, who served 34 years in prison for murdering their parents. Hochman claimed in a debate that the timing of the announcement was “suspicious” and said Gascón was trying to divert attention from his failures in office.

Gascón's office provided an update on the Manson case Wednesday evening, saying prosecutors were pursuing “new leads and additional evidence.”

“In recent weeks, new evidence has emerged that adds to the already extensive case file submitted to our office by the LASD,” Gascón said. “It is our office’s responsibility to ensure we have a complete picture of the available admissible evidence before making a filing decision.”

Gascón said a decision on the filing will be made “soon.”

In response, Bianco said that Gascón was late in announcing the update only because he knew she would appear at the press conference with Hochman.

“That speaks volumes about where his priorities really lie,” she said. “Because I am not the only survivor waiting for answers while the District Attorney’s Office has a backlog of hundreds of cases pending. While I have the privilege of media attention, many survivors do not. We will no longer be ignored. Justice delayed is justice denied, and survivors deserve better.”

Bianco and Manson settled their lawsuit in January 2023.
