Ohio State vs. Oregon Predictions, Tips, Odds

Joel Klatt, Fox Sports: Ohio State 28, Oregon 22

“I think Ohio State goes out there and gets the win. Ohio State has a 3.5 advantage, I actually think they cover that 3.5. I like Ohio State, something like 28-22, 22 is an odd number, I know that, but remember, Oregon is always going to go for two at some point, so they always have those odd numbers… I like 28-22 , if the Buckeyes win on the road against Oregon.

Bill Rabinowitz, Columbus Dispatch: Ohio State 45, Oregon 31

“The Buckeyes are finally being tested, and it’s a big challenge. The Ducks are talented on both sides of the ball, and the long trip west is a concern. But this is an experienced Ohio State team eager to prove itself against a worthy opponent.” Oregon will land some shots, but the Buckeyes have better overall talent. When Ohio State avoids costly turnovers, they pull away late to score a signature win.

Rob Oller, Columbus Dispatch: Ohio State 28, Oregon 20

“If Ohio State's offensive line was fully “fixed,” that is, finally able to trade shots with above-average defensive lines, then the Buckeyes would win by double digits, but I remain unconvinced that the O-line is completely is ready to fight.” Still, the line and everything else OSU brings out is improved and will be good enough to beat the Ducks in a close game – Jeremiah Smith, Emeka Egbuka and Quinshon Judkins – Just tough enough for Oregon that the Scarlet and Gray Eugene were still able to escape undefeated.

Joey Kaufman, Columbus Dispatch: Ohio State 28, Oregon 24

The additional travel for the Buckeyes, as well as playing in an unfamiliar environment, shouldn't be discounted as potential X-factors this weekend. It's been a decade since they were last on the West Coast during the regular season. Nonetheless, Ohio State has been nearly flawless in the first few weeks, revitalizing its ground game and staying strong on defense. The 34 points they have allowed over a five-game stretch are the fewest in the Bowl Subdivision in 2024. Oregon has far more skill position talent than the Buckeyes have so far in the Big Ten, but the defensive line that Strength of their defense has an advantage over an offensive line that was more inconsistent than a year ago, giving Ohio State an edge in a heavyweight contest that will be decided in the trenches.

Chris Hansen, Eugene Register Guard: Ohio State 35, Oregon 27

The Ducks' defense has allowed just one touchdown and 16 total points in the last 10 quarters, but they haven't experienced anything close to what the Buckeyes bring to Eugene this weekend. Oregon will have to play mistake-free football to slow down Ohio State's attack. This also applies to the offensive. Quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who has thrown three interceptions in the red zone in the last two games, can't pass up any scoring opportunities this week. Luckily, the Ducks play at Autzen Stadium, where they are 34-1 since 2018. Expect an entertaining game in a turbulent atmosphere with the Buckeyes finishing last as they avenge their loss to Oregon in Columbus in 2021.

ESPN analysis: Ohio State has a 64.1% chance of beating Oregon on the road in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday.
