Is Bayern Munich close to signing Germany's next big thing in goalkeeping?

Manuel Neuer from FC Bayern Munich is probably He is the best goalkeeper of all time and remains one of Bayern's most important players this season. However, at 38, he is older than current head coach Vincent Kompany and will turn 39 before the end of the season. It is clear that the club will need a successor in the goalkeeping department at some point.

This could be why Bayern are keeping an eye on FC Köln's Jonas Urbig, commonly referred to as Germany's greatest goalkeeping talent by many of Germany's top goalkeeping talents, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:

Bayern have scouted Cologne goalkeeper Jonas Urbig (21). Discussions took place, but no concrete offer was made. Urbig is considered Germany's greatest goalkeeper hope for the future at the DFB. Julian Nagelsmann is already keeping an eye on him and has concrete plans for him

Jonas Urbig's contract with FC Köln expires in 2026. If the contract is not extended, signing the talented goalkeeper in 2025 could be good business for Bayern. Of course, VFB Stuttgart loanee Alexander Nübel, who recently signed a new contract with FC Bayern until 2029, was another young goalkeeping talent who was sold the dream of becoming number 1 at FC Bayern. Would the new generation of young goalkeeping talents now displace him? That would be pretty cruel…
