Kirk Herbstreit puts Lee Corso on Ohio State to beat Oregon for the 42nd time on ESPN College GameDay, while the latter is absent from the show for the second straight year

After missing last week's ESPN College GameDay for Miami vs. California, Lee Corso is once again absent from the desk for this week's primetime game between Ohio State and Oregon. However, fellow former OSU quarterback Kirk Herbstreit confirmed in the first hour of the show that Corso picked the Bucks to beat the Ducks in Eugene tonight.

This would have been the 42nd time in the show's history that Corso would have donned the Brutus Buckeye headgear to choose the winner of the weekend's showdown.

GameDay host Rece Davis opened the show this morning lamenting Corso's absence. He shared that the longtime host hopes he will be “back with us very soon” and that he would like to “send very good regards.” Friend the duck.

Herbstreit noted that Corso felt very indecisive about this choice because he had long been committed to picking Ohio State in the series while Puddles was his favorite mascot. After the news was announced, a chorus of angry boos erupted in Oregon, eventually evolving into chants of “f*** Ohio.”

At age 89, Corso is currently in the middle of his 38th season on College GameDay. He previously stayed away from the show last season due to undisclosed “health issues.” Herbstreit revealed in an Instagram Live feed a few days ago that Corso was feeling “a little under the weather” this week and would therefore miss the show again.
