Preview of the UNC football program's game against Georgia Tech

The UNC football program continues down the fractured path of the 2024 season, disappointment may be destined, but there is hope of avoiding disaster. Next up is Georgia Tech, a bogey for Mack Brown and UNC. The Tar Heels have been the favorite in their last three games against the Yellow Jackets, but have been defeated by the underdog in all three cases.

Last season, the 17th-ranked Tar Heels entered Bobby Dodd Stadium after their first loss of the season against Virginia to face a 4-4 Georgia Tech team. North Carolina gave up 46 American football points and 635 yards of offense, including a mind-numbing 348 on the ground. The main culprit Dontae Smith is gone, but Haynes King is back and he has made progress as a passer:

King is completing 74% of his passes for 8.5 yards per completion. His touchdown pass total (8) isn't particularly high, but he only has one interception. If North Carolina wants to beat Georgia Tech, they have to play clean football, and what do the Tar Heels have problems with?

Say it with me. Play. Clean. Football.

If things are to turn around this season, North Carolina will have to play like a completely different team than the one we've seen over the last three weeks – consistent, clean and disciplined. Can Mack Brown get his team to buy in? If he fails to do that, expect more pain, shame and humiliation from a dangerous Georgia Tech team.
