No. 4 Penn State pulls off a “flag football” trick play that leads to an epic touchdown against USC

The first half against unranked USC didn't go well for No. 4 Penn State, but the Nittany Lions started the second half with a bang.

The Nittany Lions went deep in their game and scored a wild touchdown.

At the USC 32-yard line, Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula had a snap taken by tight end Tyler Warren. Yes, a tight end broke the ball.

To make matters more confusing, quarterback Drew Allar was lined up on the outside and the five offensive linemen were on Warren's right side at the line of scrimmage.

The Lions appeared to be in a normal football formation until everyone started moving all over the place. Out of nowhere, Warren hit the ball with no lineman to his left.

So Warren shot the ball to Pribula, who threw a back pass to Allar on his left. Then Warren (remember, he hiked the ball) ran straight and Allar hit him in the end zone for a wild touchdown catch.

The broadcast team said it looked like a “flag football” game.

Warren also served as quarterback and running back in the game, making the job a little more fun for offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki.

Penn State went into the locker room trailing 20-6 at halftime, but the trick play got back on track and the game was tied at press time.

This is the highest Penn State has achieved by the AP since they were ranked No. 4 in Week 6 of the 2021 season. USC received a rude reception in the Big Ten, losing road games to Michigan and Minnesota.

However, if USC can fight back, it would be the program's biggest win in a long time.
