Michael Keaton gives his answer about his return for a possible 'Beetlejuice 3'

We had Beetlejuice. Then we got Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. So that raises the question of whether anyone will say that Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and summon the bio-exorcist a third time, and if so, will it be another quarter century before we return to Winter River? The star of the films, Michael Keatonspoke to E! recently and maybe we have a chance. After first bringing the ghost to life with the most in 1988, he is back again in 2024 and is the only Betelgeuse to slip into the black and white stripes Tim Burton's long-awaited legacy sequel




Keaton wasn't alone either. He was joined by spooky OG stars Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O'Hara as Delia Deetz, while the cast was joined by Fresh Meat Bags and ghosts in the form of franchise newcomers Willem Dafoe, Monica Bellucci, Justin Theroux and Jenna Ortega. But even though the film is a financial success, Threejuice hasn't been greenlit yet, and who knows if it ever will.

E! News has now shared an interview with Keaton from the red carpet for the new film Goodrich, and they took the opportunity to ask Keaton if he wanted to reprise the role for a theoretical third appearance. Keaton responded exuberantly, exclaiming succinctly “Oh yeah, I would do it every year, yeah.” That should confirm that there is interest in making the film, but Burton himself has expressed some concerns, as he explained to Total Film, who noted that he “noticeably squirmed” at the prospect.


“I don't know it. I would listen to that William Castle or something like that – 'the biggest, greatest, most fabulous film since Glen or Glenda!'” says Burton. “I really hope for the best. I just feel good that this was made in the spirit and feel of the original. Anyway, the film was a very good experience for me in that regard.”


How successful was “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”?

It's a blockbuster, that's for sure. Despite the sequel's hefty $100 million budget in 2024 – more than six times the original 1988 film's $15 million – the box office is returning Beetlejuice Beetlejuice have already surpassed the $400 million mark, making it a solid success. Add to that its 77% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it's clear that this sequel has managed to delight both fans and critics.
