Clark Lea updates Miles Capers' injury status following Vanderbilt football vs. Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Vanderbilt football defensive lineman Miles Capers suffered a neck injury in Saturday's game against Kentucky. After being taken away on a stretcher and examined at the hospital in the second quarter, he returned to the sideline in street clothes in the fourth quarter.

“Any time you're dealing with a neck injury, you want to be careful and take every precaution,” coach Clark Lea said. “So our doctors and trainers, the work they did to get to Miles, to evaluate Miles, I mean you want to talk about a group of professionals, the way they handled all of that, the way they talked to Miles and calmed him down.”

Lea also said that Kentucky coach Mark Stoops came by to check on both Capers and Lea during the stoppage of play following the Capers' injury, which occurred when he took a hit after a running play.

On Saturday evening, Lea said Capers was “doing well” but it was too early to say whether there would be any ongoing complications.

Vanderbilt (4-2, 2-1 SEC) won the game 20-13.
