Avery Johnson Injury: Kansas State QB leaves game with non-contact injury

Kansas State came out of the locker room with seven opponents Coloradoget the ball to start the second half. Avery Johnson hoping to extend the lead to two points, they got off to a great start by finding Jace Brown up the middle, a big gain to get the Wildcats into enemy territory. A nice game, but not what Wildcat fans pay attention to.

The moment Johnson released the pass, he immediately fell to the ground in pain. While he was a Colorado defensive back, the injury appeared to be a non-contact injury. Johnson was down on one knee, holding his side.

A few trainers entered the field and eventually helped Johnson to the sideline. Finally, Johnson jogged back to the locker room for another evaluation. Ta'Quan Roberson is Kansas State's reserve player and joined the game.

ESPN color commentator Roddy Jones was quick to compare what Johnson was going through Quinn Ewers from a few weeks ago. He was in Austin for the game against Austin UTSA where Ewers was injured and also had a no-contact issue before grabbing his side.

“We were in Texas when Quinn Ewers suffered the oblique injury,” Jones said. “Threw the ball across the field and similarly grabbed it by his side. Was non-contact, but it looked very similar, the type of throw Ewers was on.”

Ewers ended up missing two games Texas but trained for the final two before the Red River Shootout against Oklahoma. Of course, there's no official word on Johnson and there's a chance he could return to the field against Colorado.

Coming out of the game, Johnson had completed eight of 10 passes for 86 yards. The majority of Kansas State's offensive firepower came from the floor. Here too, Johnson made his contribution with a touchdown. However, sacks lowered his rushing total as he had minus-eight yards on six carries. Its length is 10 yards.
