Anne Hathaway fans rejoice as 'Princess Diaries 3' and 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' are officially in the works

Fans of the early 2000s classics have a reason to celebrate. Two iconic films – The Princess Diaries and The Devil Wears Prada – are getting sequels that bring back beloved characters and continue beloved storylines. In The Princess Diaries 3, Anne Hathaway will reprise her role as Mia Thermopolis, the current Queen of Genovia. This third installment, directed by Adele Lim – known for Crazy Rich Asians and the animated film Raya and the Last Dragon – arrives over two decades after the last film, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement.

Lim expressed her excitement and said she looks forward to celebrating themes such as female power and mentorship. While it's uncertain whether Julie Andrews will return as Queen Clarisse, Hathaway is committed to including her. Fans can look forward to more royal adventures as Mia masters her role as queen.

According to Production List, The Devil Wears Prada 2 begins filming on November 30th.

Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in pre-production and Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci are expected to return. Filming is scheduled to begin in November 2024. Directed by David Frankel, who directed the original 2006 film, this sequel follows Miranda Priestly following the challenges of the decline of traditional magazines as she competes with her former assistant Emily Charlton, who has risen to become a powerful executive. The film promises to capture the same energy and dynamism that made the first film a cultural phenomenon.
