NFL games 2024 in London: Caleb Williams stars as Chicago Bears defeat Jacksonville Jaguars in Tottenham | NFL News

Now it was Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears' turn to conquer London as they edged out the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars for a 35-16 victory at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Cole Kmet and Keenan Allen each scored two touchdowns to bring the Jags to 1-5, while the Bears won their third straight game and improved to 4-2, putting the pressure on Jacksonville head coach Doug Pederson heading into their clash with the New England next Sunday raised Patriots at Wembley Stadium.

Caleb Williams got the better of Trevor Lawrence in a battle of No. 1 pick quarterbacks as the rookie finished 23 of 29 for 226 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Lawrence, meanwhile, went 23 of 35 for 234 yards, two touchdowns and a pick before being replaced by Mac Jones in the final three minutes of the game.

Gabe Davis cut Chicago's lead to 11 points in the third quarter before Allen's second end zone trip extended Chicago's lead. Lawrence was then intercepted by Josh Blackwell before D'Andre Swift finally put the game out of reach with a touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

Matt Eberflus and Eric Washington's Bears defense once again starred as Elijah Hicks recorded two pass breakups in the end zone and recovered a fumble, while DeMarcus Walker recorded a sack and two quarterback hits and a flying Kyler Gordon had seven tackles a tackle for loss before exiting with a hamstring injury.

Kmet's double gave the Bears a 14-3 halftime lead before the Jaguars suffered disaster on the first play from scrimmage of the third quarter when Evan Engram stumbled under pressure from TJ Edwards and Hicks recovered.

Williams punished Allen emphatically with a 9-yard scoring strike and soon made it 21-3 after the duo tied it on third-and-8.

It was the Jaguars' best performance of the game as Engram converted third-and-5 before Lawrence's pass intended for Brenton Strange in the end zone was brilliantly deflected by a retreating Kevin Byard.

The Bears dashed their hopes of a fightback when Williams orchestrated a 10-play, 70-yard drive that culminated in Allen's three-yard touchdown catch following runs of 17 and 19 yards by Swift.
