Denver Broncos are monitoring Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert's injury progress

After a few days of practice this week, Los Angeles Chargers Quarterback Justin Herbert remains limited. Herbert suffered a right ankle sprain in Week 2 and reportedly aggravated it again the following game.

In the fourth week of the Chargers loss to the Kansas City Chiefshe wore an ankle brace and hit the bye. He was I wore braces while training this weekAlso , so the ankle doesn't seem to be quite 100% in a matchup with that Denver Broncos on deck at Empower Field at Mile High.

The Broncos' second-ranked scoring defense won't make things easy for Herbert either. The Broncos defense ranks 3rd in total yards, 10th in runs, 5th in passes and 3rd in sacks.

For a mobility-limited quarterback as talented as Herbert, that's not a good result. Now, considering his head coach Jim Harbaugh, there's every reason to believe Herbert will play on Sunday, even if he's listed as a limited participant in the Chargers' Friday practice.

The Chargers also have two offensive tackles on the injury report. Joe Alt (knee) was fully fit Thursday, while Rashawn Slater (pectoral muscle) was also limited.

The Chargers' defense is currently the strongest unit in the NFL, but if it has a weakness, it's the pass rush. And the Chargers don't seem prepared for that to improve any time soon, with edge rusher Joey Bosa not participating in practice this week as he recovers from a hip injury.

Meanwhile, the Broncos themselves could be losing two offensive line starters, as right tackle Alex Palczewski and center Luke Wattenberg have not yet participated in this week's practices. The Broncos brought back Cam Fleming to reportedly help with the tackle question marks, while Alex Forsyth is ready to start in place of Wattenberg.

Wide receiver Josh Reynolds also has yet to practice this week, so we will be monitoring this situation closely on Friday. Broncos defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers was dealing with a shoulder injury and had limited practice Wednesday but was in full action Thursday.

The Broncos started this week with running back Audric Estime and cornerback Damarri Mathis returning from injured reserve. Both have been full participants in every practice this week, so look for an official activation before Sunday.
