Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker TJ Watt is a beast on the football field. Since being drafted in the first round in 2017, he has consistently been one of the NFL's all-time leaders in sacks and was named Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.

He recently made history as the second-fastest player to reach 100 sacks – beating his brother, former Arizona Cardinals defensive end JJ Watt, by 11 games.

So what drives Watt's impressive performances and his iconic leg kick game after game? Apparently there is exactly the same breakfast every morning.

TJ Watts 2-Ingredient Breakfast from Pittsburgh Steelers

In 2018, ESPN reported that Watt ate 7,000 to 8,000 calories every day and drank two gallons of water to maintain his body weight. His diet consists of what you would expect — lots of protein and vegetables — but the future Hall of Famer also shared that he eats the exact same breakfast every day. And although it appears on the packaging in 2023, it is not Wheaties.

According to sports reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala tweeted Posting a photo of Watt's brother, former Pittsburgh Steelers fullback Derek Watt, arriving at training camp in 2021 with a container of homemade food, another X user (formerly Twitter): “I wonder if @_TJWatt brought his own to the #Steelers #Camp and whether @JJWatt is coming to #Cardinals #Camp tomorrow?”

TJ replied, “I've been eating the same oatmeal every morning for five years. So yes, I take it to work every day!!”

When you need a quick, nutritious breakfast, oatmeal is a great choice. Although it's delicious on its own, prepared in the microwave with water – just like Ina Garten enjoys every morning – it can also be easily refined with fruits, cinnamon and nuts.

Watt hasn't revealed his favorite oatmeal recipe — or his preferred brand, although we'd like to assume it's Quaker Oats since it's the “official oatmeal sponsor of the NFL” — but we do know he's made a name for himself for his breakfast habits.

Even Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin mentioned Watts' love of simple food.

“He is able to maintain his body weight throughout the season. I watched him eat oatmeal and stuff like that in the morning to try to keep it up,” Tomlin said.

TJ Watt's favorite foods

However, Watt's diet isn't just about oats. Him too enjoys grilling Steaks and burgers – and they've even been known to arrive at a drive-thru window. Similar to his brother JJ, TJ is a fan of the Midwest fast food chain Culver's.

However, he doesn't order the JJ's Way menu, opting instead for a double deluxe burger with ketchup and cheese curds.

And of course, the Watt brothers have been working with Old El Paso for two football seasons now to share their love of tacos – both traditional and non-traditional. Old El Paso's latest campaign pits Watt Can Taco, TJ and Derek against each other in a JJ-judged cooking show competition to transform pizza, game day grills and even soup into taco creations.

We think you should have won the Soups Soups Soups challenge too, TJ

We don't know if this is superstition or not, but between Watt's breakfast and Travis Kelce's French toast before every game, there seems to be a connection between eating the same thing and playing best in the NFL.
