Stephen A. Smith doesn't hesitate to name the worst NFL team

Stephen A. Smith reveals his picks for the NFL's worst team, and he shows no mercy.

As the 2024 NFL season enters its fifth week and the calendar turns from September to October, only two teams remain undefeated: the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings.

In contrast, seven teams have managed just one win so far, including some unexpected ones like the Cincinnati Bengals, Jacksonville Jaguars and Los Angeles Rams.

On Monday's episode of First recordingStephen A. Smith didn't hold back when asked about the worst team in the NFL and chose the Carolina Panthers without hesitation.

“Here’s the deal.” Smith explained. “Right now this is the worst franchise in football.”

The Carolina Panthers are struggling in the 2024 NFL season

The Panthers have only one win this season, a 36-22 triumph over the Las Vegas Raiders. They've only gone over the 10-point mark once in their losses, and after benching Bryce Young in favor of Andy Dalton, they still haven't seen much improvement.

Despite a tough 36-10 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 5, Panthers coach Dave Canales is sticking with Dalton as the starter for now.

Andy Dalton and Bryce Young chatted courtside at Bank of America Stadium in the fourth quarter, showing the struggle for solutions within the team.

The Panthers rank 29th in points per game, last in points allowed and 26th in total yards, highlighting their offensive woes.

Against the Bears, Dalton completed just 18 of 28 passes for 136 yards, including an interception, prompting Canales to sub in Young in the final minutes of the game.

Despite these challenges, the Panthers continue to rely on the veteran instead of using their No. 1 2023 draft pick.

Things are tough in Carolina and Stephen A. Smith insists they are the worst team in the league right now.
