X withdraws Unilever from its “advertising boycott” lawsuit

X drops claims against Unilever in its lawsuit accusing advertisers and brands of engaging in an “illegal boycott” of the company. The lawsuits against Unilever, which includes household names such as Dove and Hellmann's, were dismissed today.

This is just one of the lawsuits Musk has filed against critics and former business partners, as he is also suing OpenAI and founders Sam Altman and Greg Brockman for the second time. (Musk previously filed a similar lawsuit and then dropped it earlier this year.)

On X, the platform's office account said it had “reached an agreement” with Unilever and would “continue its partnership” with the company. X did not immediately respond to questions about the agreement or terms or what they meant by the “ecosystem-wide solution” it referenced in its X post. Unilever declined to comment on the minutes. The lawsuit further names CVS, Mars and Ørsted.

The advertisers' antitrust lawsuit filed this summer targeted the World Federation of Advertisers (WFA), which led an industry initiative called the Global Alliance for Responsible Media (GARM). Under the GARM agreement, brands refused to advertise on platforms that did not meet certain security standards. In its lawsuit, Bafflingly, X also said it joined GARM about a month before the lawsuit against WFA.
