Near record heat and increased fire danger across North Texas ahead of cold front arrival

Temperatures are expected to approach record highs over the weekend, with increased fire risk across much of North Texas.

Temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s on Saturday and Sunday. According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, unusually hot weather coupled with low humidity will result in increased fire danger throughout Dallas-Fort Worth and the western region.

The heat will be about 10 to 15 degrees above normal. Temperatures are expected to rise to a record high of 97 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday, according to KXAS-TV (NBC5) meteorologist Adrienne Vonn.
