The Rams gained ground in the NFC West during their bye week

While most of the NFL was in action on Thursday and Sunday, the Los Angeles Rams had the week off to say goodbye and give themselves some time to recover from a difficult start to the year.

The other three NFC West teams competed in Week 6 and fortunately for the Rams, they didn't lose any ground in the division. In fact, the Rams are actually closer to the top of the NFC West than they were last week despite not playing.

That's because the 49ers beat the Seahawks on Thursday Night Football and the Cardinals were defeated by the Packers at Lambeau Field. Entering Week 6, the Rams were two games behind the Seahawks, who were 3-2 at the time. They are now just 1.5 games behind the 49ers, who are tied atop the division with the Seahawks at 3-3.

  1. 49ers: 3-3

  2. Seahawks: 3-3

  3. Cardinals: 2-4

  4. Rams: 1-4

As frustrating and disappointing as the first five weeks have been for the Rams, they are far from finished in the NFC West. They've already beaten the 49ers once and have two games left against the Seahawks, so a season win for both teams would do wonders for Sean McVay's squad.

They may have lost to the Cardinals in Week 2, but Arizona no longer appears to be a legitimate contender after losing three of their last four games. The season is far from over and with every team in the division having some serious flaws, no one will walk away with the crown.
