Golmaal, partner actor Atul Parchure, dies at the age of 57

Veteran actor Atul Parchure, known for his roles in several films including Partner, Kyon Ki, Billu Barber, Golmaal and others, passed away on Monday, October 14. He was 57.

Parchure was not only known in Bollywood for his impeccable comedic timing but also acted in numerous Marathi films and Hindi shows.

Parchure had previously spoken out about his battle with liver cancer, claiming in July 2023 that he had been mistreated for his disease, causing his condition to worsen to the point where he could no longer even walk or speak properly.

He had explained that he learned of his cancer diagnosis after returning from a trip abroad with his wife as they celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. “After seeing many doctors, I was asked to have an ultrasound scan. When the doctor did this, I saw fear in his eyes and felt like something was wrong. I was told that I have a tumor about five centimeters long in my liver and that it's cancerous,” he had said in an interview.

Parchure had also shared that his deteriorating health left him out of work and other career options and he even had to turn down Kapil Sharma's offer to be a part of his show due to his condition and treatment.

Earlier this year, Parchure was awarded the prestigious Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award for his contribution to Marathi theater. He was presented with the award by none other than megastar Amitabh Bachchan and the actor had penned a heartfelt message.

“As a fan of the Mangeshkar family, this is the highest form of validation and love you can receive. Receiving it in the presence of Mr. @amitabhbachchan is another dream I saw come true last night,” he wrote.
