Tia Mowry had a unique opportunity to repurpose her wedding ring after her divorce

Tia Mowry used her wedding ring after her split from her ex-husband Cory Hardrict, as she revealed on the latest episode of her reality show: My next act.

Mowry revealed plans to have her ring made into jewelry for her two children, 13-year-old son Cree and 6-year-old daughter Cairo, giving the ring a second life following their divorce in 2022. “I haven’t worn it in almost two years now,” she says in the second episode We watch TV. “It just doesn’t feel right to sell it, but I want to turn my wedding ring into something for my kids.”

Mowry, who married Hardrict in 2008, tearfully explained that the decision to repurpose the ring had caused mixed feelings about her ex. “It's sad because this is a symbol of a marriage and it's no longer,” she says to the camera. “It's hard for me not to think of Cory when I decide to use my wedding ring for another purpose.”

“I’m learning that ultimately I have to make this decision for myself,” she adds. “And I think because it goes to the kids, he’ll be fine.”

Mowry takes the ribbon to a jewelry maker in Los Angeles, who agrees to make it into a dog tag necklace for her son and a bracelet for her daughter.

“I just think it's so nice to take something that was given out of love and take it and give it to your children,” Mowry says. “It just makes me feel like my marriage wasn’t a waste.”

Mowry filed for divorce from Hardrict in October 2022. On the first episode of Hardrict's reality show, she revealed that she came to this decision after getting tired of hiding in public.

“I was tired of not being authentic and living in my truth,” Mowry said. “I was tired of showing up at events and people thinking everything was perfect when it wasn't. I would go home and feel alone.”
