With three weeks until Election Day and amid a busy campaign schedule, Vice President Kamala Harris will conduct her first interview with Fox News.

The network announced Monday that its chief political anchor Bret Baier will interview Harris on Wednesday in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state. Their conversation will be recorded in the afternoon and will air later that evening at 6 p.m. ET on Baier's “Special Report.”

The Democratic presidential candidate's decision to take part in the interview came after the network invited the presidential front-runners to a debate in late October. The Republican nominee to replace former President Donald Trump declined that invitation after their first face-off in September.

Since her bid for the White House, Harris has been criticized for not accepting many interviews with traditional news outlets. In recent weeks, she has increased her media appearances, including a “60 Minutes” interview that aired last Monday.

President Joe Biden has not appeared on Fox News since taking office in 2021. Democratic officials have largely avoided interviews with the network, which are watched by many conservatives. However, in an apparent attempt to reach moderate and “Never Trump” voters, more members of the party began appearing on its network.

Harris' running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, made the case for the Democratic ticket in back-to-back appearances on “Fox News Sunday.”

Trump will participate in a pre-recorded, televised town hall meeting on Fox News on Tuesday. The event will have an all-female audience and focus on “women's issues” as he tries to win support from the crucial voting bloc that has leaned toward Harris.

This year, Baier co-led Fox News' coverage of the Democratic and Republican national conventions, the network said. He also moderated the Republican primary debates and a town hall meeting with Trump in January.
