Buffalo Bills vs. NY Jets result, Monday Night Football update

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – For the second straight year, the Buffalo Bills are at MetLife Stadium for a Monday night test against the New York Jets.

Last year, the Bills and Jets met in Week 1, and despite losing star quarterback Aaron Rodgers — who was making his Jets debut after 18 years in Green Bay — New York suffered a late Achilles injury on the fourth play of the game of the season a chance to secure a 22-16 overtime victory on a walk-off punt return touchdown by Xavier Gipson.

There's also more drama surrounding the Jets this time, as owner Woody Johnson fired head coach Robert Saleh last week and the team is now led by defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich, while the Bills' previous offense was stripped of offensive playbook coordinator Nathaniel Hackett and Jets QB- Handed over to coach/passing game coordinator Todd Downing.

Stay here all night for live updates:

We won't know for sure whether RB James Cook plays until the inactive list is announced at 6:45 a.m., but one indication that he might not be is the news that Gore has been named to the 53-man roster is recorded.

There's still a chance Cook will be available, and maybe Gore is on the list just in case there's a deterioration. It could be inactive. Or it could be that both players are active and Gore will just be an insurance policy.

The good news for the Bills is that their failure to bring up a wide receiver from the practice squad suggests Khalil Shakir will play. Like Cook, he was listed as questionable for the game.

  • Date: Monday
  • Time: 8:15 p.m
  • Location: MetLife Stadium
  • Betting line: Bills -1
  • Over-Under: 41
  • Money line: Bills minus 120 (bet $120 to win $100) and Jets plus 100 (bet $100 to win $100).

When I made my original pick earlier in the week, I saw the Bills win the game. Now that the Jets have changed head coaches and it looks like both Cook and Shakir won't be able to play for an offense that is already struggling badly, I have to make the switch. I have a feeling that the Jets defense, which continues to be one of the best in the league, will give a boost to the Bills' hitless offense, and that the Jets will also deliver an inspired performance playing for a new head coach Passing game coordinator Todd Downing will direct the offensive plays in place of the beleaguered Nathaniel Hackett. Jets 20, Bills 16
