Father arrested after allegedly killing man he found with his missing 14-year-old daughter

LONOKE COUNTY, Ark. (WKRC) – A father was arrested after he allegedly shot a man who was in a vehicle with his missing 14-year-old daughter.

On Tuesday, 36-year-old Aaron Spencer reported to police that his daughter was missing. As police were en route to Spencer's home, Spencer found his daughter in a vehicle with 67-year-old Michael Fosler, according to the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office news release.

Spencer then shot Fosler after a confrontation between the two men. According to FOX News, police arrested Spencer on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder, a Class Y felony, and he was booked into the Lonoke County Detention Center before being released the next day after posting bond.

According to Justia, Class Y felonies typically carry a minimum of 10 to a maximum of 40 years in prison or a life sentence.

FOX News reported that Spencer's family had put a no-contact order on Fosler because he stalked and raped the 14-year-old over the summer.

“This guy who robbed her daughter was out on bail and we had him pulled over and picked him up that night,” Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley told USA Today.

USA Today reported that the child's mother thought Fosler might try to kill her daughter this time because he expected a possible six to nine crimes and her daughter was the only witness.

The child's mother set up a GoFundMe account to cover her husband's legal fees. However, this was discontinued because the site's terms did not allow people to raise money for the legal defense of people accused of an alleged violent crime. Instead, she demanded money through Venmo and Cash App.
