The Los Angeles Clippers make their debut at the Intuit Dome on Monday

For the first time in a quarter century, the Los Angeles Clippers will play a home game in their own exclusive arena on Monday night.

That's because the Intuit Dome, the $2 billion arena in Inglewood, is now open seven years after its construction was first announced.

The arena has hosted several concerts in recent months, including Bruno Mars, but a sporting event has not yet taken place.

The Clippers will play in the dome for the first time in a preseason game against the reigning NBA Western Conference champion Dallas Mavericks on Monday at 7:30 p.m

“I can’t believe we’re finally here,” said Gillian Zucker, Clippers president of business operations. “The place is closed, we just need the fans to come and enjoy this incredible place.”

KTLA's Eric Spillman was able to tour the arena Monday morning and was impressed with the new, state-of-the-art facility.

“This is really something different,” Spillman said. “This is unique. This is Steve Ballmer’s vision of a fan-centric experience.”

Ballmer, owner of the Clippers since 2014, wanted to create an intimate fan experience that included “The Wall,” one end of the court where seating is reserved for only the biggest Clippers fans. No one in this area is allowed to represent the visiting team, so there will be no Luka Doncic jerseys on the wall on Monday.

“It’s all about the home advantage,” said Zucker.

Each seat also includes buttons similar to those on a gaming controller. This, Zucker explained, means fans can interact with the images shown on the arena's “Halo” video board and easily play games or take polls.

“We added a real-time gaming engine to the game itself, which allows us to do all sorts of unique things with content as well,” she said.

The board itself resembles an oval shape around the arena and is equipped with double-sided 4K screens. The graphics on this board will be unique, Zucker said.

Didn't make it to the Intuit Dome for Monday's tipoff? Don't worry because you can watch the game on KTLA 5, KTLA.com and KTLA+. The channel will broadcast a total of 15 Clippers games during the 2024-25 season, including 11 regular season games.
