Sudan survived multiple goal attempts and goal battles to secure a hard-fought goalless draw away to Ghana last Thursday.

It was an important point for the Falcons of Jediane, who had lost to Angola in their last game and were in danger of falling to third place if they lost to the Black Stars.

However, the risk remains James Kwesi AppiahThe Manchester side must avoid defeat on Tuesday to stay in the top two and improve their chances of securing one of the two AFCON tickets.

In five meetings between the two teams when Sudan hosted, the home team won two and lost three – although the last one ended 1-0 in favor of the Falcons of Jediane, which happened to be an AFCON qualifier in 2020.

Sudan are undefeated in the last three qualifiers they have played, earning a draw against Togo and a win against DR Congo in World Cup qualifiers in November 2023 before beating Niger 1 in an AFCON qualifier last month :0 defeated.

In a game where they had 20 shots on target, seven on target, and four big chances, Ghana had to negate their profligacy in front of goal, putting them in a desperate position in the middle of qualifying.

The Black Stars have appeared in the last 10 editions of the AFCON since their defeat in 2004, but that run is in danger of ending if they fail to secure an away win in Sudan on Tuesday.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has been reappointed Otto Addo Following his dismissal, he was appointed head coach of the Ghana national football team in March, with the aim of leading the team to another AFCON Chris Hughton after a poor performance at the AFCON 2023 in Ivory Coast.

The coach is unbeaten away from home in his second spell as coach, going as far as a 2-1 away win in Mali in a World Cup qualifier in June and a 1-1 draw against Niger in the only away game of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.

With another Ghanaian, a former Black Stars coach and GFA Executive Council member until last week, in the opposite dugout, the visitors will have to pull off new tricks if they are to leave Sudan with the result they demanded, having now failed to do so, two scoring goals in their three games so far in the AFCON qualification.

We say: Sudan – Ghana 0:1

A combination of a brilliant performance from the goalkeeper, profligacy from the opposition and luck prevented Sudan from losing to Ghana in the first leg – however we believe that may not be the case again this time as the visitors know it's time is when things get tough and you can find the important goal.
