Davante Adams joins Aaron Rodgers on The Pat McAfee Show, a few hours after joining the Jets

Hours after his New York Jets traded for star receiver Davante Adams, Aaron Rodgers publicly commented on the deal for the first time during his weekly appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday.

While Rodgers was talking to McAfee, Adams appeared on the screen behind the quarterback and spoke briefly on the show.

“We’re back, man,” Adams said. “We’re back.”

Adams, who played in the Raiders' first three games this season, is out with a hamstring injury. When asked about the extent of his hamstring injury, Adams said he was ready to go.

“I’m doing great, man,” he told McAfee. “I feel great. I've been working with the staff over in Vegas the whole time and they've made things right for me so I'm fortunate to be able to move on.”

Rodgers said he was “really excited” about Adams' move to New York, which is now 2-4 after its third straight loss to the Buffalo Bills on Monday night.

“He’s a phenomenal player and a dear friend,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “It was obviously a shitty day yesterday. We had a really good chance to make it 3-3 and win a home game. I kind of gave that away.

“I was pissed, driving home through traffic, had a few texts, just didn't feel like talking to anyone. When I got home, (Adams) had called and texted me, so I finally called him back. Around, I don’t know, I heard the news at 12:30 or 12:45 last night.”

Adams was also asked about taking over New York's offense.

“I’m sure there are some new little nuances, but mostly the same wording,” he said. “Still the same OG here, so we should be able to pick up where we left off. That’s the idea.”

Rodgers said Adams is “at the top of the list of guys that I really care about and are family to me” in the NFL and that the two have “done a lot of great things over the years” as teammates.

“He made me look good a lot of times,” Rodgers said. “So, I’m really excited about it. I think it’s exciting for our team. We definitely got better today.”

Adams joins an offense that featured Garrett Wilson (41 catches, 399 yards, three TD), Allen Lazard (26 catches, 354 yards, five TD) and running back Breece Hall (26 catches, 204 yards, TD) in Week 6. . Rodgers said Adams' addition “immediately brings a lot of energy to the team.”

“He is a proven star player. He is an asset. He has an incredible presence in the locker room,” Rodgers said. “I think it will really help Garrett. I think when you're able to be with a guy who's been doing it at a high level for a long time, then you just see how he goes about his process by osmosis, then there's going to be a lot of things that he can take with you.

“And I think Garrett has played really well the last two weeks. I think it was his best game last night and look at the stats: we had two 100-yard receivers, we had a 100-yard back. We played better offensively in certain spots, were just terrible in the red zone and missed some easy opportunities.

The Jets will look to end their three-game losing streak in Week 7 by taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2) on Sunday night.
