It's Wordle Wednesday, ladies and gentlemen, and that means two things: First, and most obviously, we have another Wordle to solve – an easier one today than the last two, which were really stupid. It also means you have a puzzle to solve, as I give out an extra challenge every Wednesday to keep everyone sane.

Today's puzzle:

I'll post the answer in tomorrow's guide here on this blog (subscribe!), but if you solve the problem before then, feel free to follow me TwitterInstagram or Facebook and write me a DM.

Word analysis

Every day I look at Wordle Bot to analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

I had a pretty good start today, but even reducing it from 2,000+ to just 11 didn't really help. I should have taken all new letters, but I thought I could probably guess it in two letters, so why not? CORAL didn't help quite as much as COURT, and CORNY was even worse. At that point all I could think about was CORER, and somehow that ended up being right. I was lucky!

Competitive Wordle Score

Just like yesterday, today a total wash. I get 0 points for guessing in four rounds and since the Wordle Bot also guessed in four rounds, I get 0 points for the draw. Fat zeros everywhere!

How to Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing 1 is worth 3 points; guessing 2 is worth 2 points; guessing 3 is worth 1 point; guessing 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; Guessing on 6 is -2 points and missing the wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If there is a tie you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or simply play for a new score every day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, which means you double your points – positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running list or just play day by day. Enjoy!

Today's Wordle etymology

The word stoner comes from the root word corewhich itself goes back to Middle English corewhich means “heart” or “central part”. This probably comes from Old French coeurwhich means “heart” and ultimately comes from Latin cor or Cordiswhich means “heart”. The suffix -um In stoner means a person or thing that performs a certain action, i.e. a stoner is something that removes the core of an object, such as a fruit.
