Mbappe's entourage suspects PSG wants to “tarnish its image” amid controversy surrounding the trip to Sweden

Real Madrid striker Kylian Mbappé's trip to Sweden last week after he asked to be left out of the France squad due to fitness problems has caused major controversy.

The French media criticized the 25-year-old superstar for traveling while his teammates played against Israel in the UEFA Nations League – especially because he started a game for Real Madrid after leaving the national team squad due to fitness problems.

Things took a dark turn when reports emerged that Stockholm police were investigating an alleged rape incident that occurred at the hotel where Mbappe had stayed during his trip.

The Real Madrid superstar quickly spoke out and dismissed the reports as “fake news”. At the same time, he suggested that PSG and the French media were behind the development ahead of his hearing on the €55 million in unpaid wages.

Swedish prosecutors confirmed earlier this week that an investigation into a rape incident was indeed underway, but their official document did not mention Mbappe.

But given that his name has been dragged into the controversy, those around him suspect foul play by PSG.

In the midst of all this, Mbappe is said to have brought calm to Real Madrid.

In fact, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner's lawyer spoke to the media and said: “He is particularly calm but stunned by this media hype, which he doesn't understand because you can't blame him for anything.”

“Proof of this is that he trained today (with his club Real Madrid). There is nothing to be blamed for.”

PSG, for its part, has not made any official comment on the matter, but released a statement through French media on Monday that read: “It's a shame. We will maintain our class and our dignity.”
